SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 22, 2016 — Today, Starboard TCN, leading San Francisco commercial real estate firm, providing clients with all-inclusive services since 1991, today announced the sale of 59 Bill Drake Way, in Pacifica California. The 4700 square foot property has been home of the Pacifica Tribune since 1959 and the street on which the building resides was named after a hometown legacy and Tribune founder, Bill Drake.

Frank Vella, Starboard TCN Broker Associate, worked on the deal, which ultimately sold to Eddie Lau, owner of Feel Good Compounders, an independent compounding pharmacy in Pacifica. Feel Good Compounders will be moving into half of the building, while the Pacifica Tribune will continue to occupy the remaining half.

“Our pharmacy is very excited to expand into this building and hope to be a staple of the community for years to come. We are very excited to be surrounded by other successful small business owners in the area,” explained Eddie Lau, owner of Feel Good Compounders.

Bill Drake, who passed away in 2012 at 91 years old, founded the Pacifica Tribune and served as the editor and publisher for over three decades. Drake also owned the office building where the Tribune was located. Drake’s Tribune covered any and all local news, including floods, landslides, oil slicks, freeways, new subdivisions and many projects that never even happened. Drake was honored when the city named the street on which his property was located “Bill Drake Way” after himself in 2010.

Drake was a well-respected publisher with tremendous impact on Pacifica’s history. He helped create the Pacific Coast Fog Fest in an effort to prove that Pacifica weather is great, even with the fog. Drake’s reporting rewarded him and the Pacifica Tribune with numerous awards. One award in particular, rated the Pacifica Tribune as the number one “Best Spot News Publication” in the entire state of California, beating out the Los Angeles Times.

“This was an important sale since it involved a business in Pacifica who is expanding and growing, but also a long time established business that remains a huge part of Pacifica history and current events. New ownership of the Pacifica Tribune, Sherman Frederick, is taking the newspaper into a new age of media and communications,” stated Frank Vella, Starboard TCN Broker Associate.
